the system of dowry still exists in Thailand, the only question I would ask is one of fairness. The dowry is fine, no s*x until married, that means and implies she is virgin..if so fine, if not then only fair if you pay for used goods the price is lower. Europe still has this system now, south America, Africa, Korea, Japan, Middle East, polynesia, etc..its a fair system, but has to be fair both ways.
